In the official trailer for Gavin O’Connor and Bill Dubuque’s The Accountant 2, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) turns to a smart speaker to break down the difference between dressy casual and business casual. It helps him decide not to wear the black suit the system tells him makes him look like a mortician. But when the stakes get a bit higher after someone he once knew gets murdered, Christian can’t turn to Siri or Alexa. Instead, he goes to his killing machine brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal).

Together, Christian and Brax team up — somewhat reluctantly, on both ends — with Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), deputy director of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. From there, a synopsis for the film reads, “they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.”

The sequel to O’Connor and Dubuque’s 2016 film The Accountant will premiere at SXSW Film Festival ahead of a global release on April 25.

Rolling Stone‘s David Fear listed The Accountant 2 as one of the 50 most anticipated films of 2025, writing: “We’ve got a soft spot for Gavin O’Connor’s 2016 action movie about a super-accountant on the spectrum played by Ben Affleck, whose work for criminal organizations eventually gets the numbers savant into a hell of a jam — so the news that the writer-director and his star were reteaming for a sequel was great news. Jon Bernthal and J.K. Simmons are set to revise their role from the first film, and we assume we’re going to get the exact same mix of math and mayhem, in that order.”

The Accountant 2 also stars Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons.
