Robert Pattinson And Jennifer Lawrence Premiere Gets Overshadowed By A Giant Bird

The few occasions when a red carpet gets photobombed are on par with the tree falling in the forest on those days when no one really sees it. An unattractive silhouette of the exquisite bird strutted down the Cannes premiere carpet for ‘Die, My Love’ (Robert Pattinson & Jennifer Lawrence starred).

The bird turned out to be an over-zealous feathered bird-man advertising the documentary ‘I Love Peru.’ The internet was just…displeased. Some said Jennifer Lawrence was in there somewhere in disguise (yes, really). Others claimed this bird had more style than Jared Leto. One went so far as to say, “Finally, a star that outshines Pattinson.” Ouch!
But, really…back up. The bird that looked a lot like that condor, known nationwide as a symbol for various South American countries, was all just a promotional trick. The operators of the bird managed to sneak in despite Cannes’ strict dress code prohibiting voluminous outfits (yes, it really is a rule). Really, though, kudos to them. If you’re going to bend the rules, go big during it.
The online reaction was priceless, honestly. One compared it to “Turkie from Thankskilling,” while another wondered if this was Dee Reynolds finally making it big in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” The icing on the cake? Somebody had to explain that this was not a real bird, because apparently, some folks half-seriously thought Cannes just let a wild condor loose on the red carpet.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence—the supposed stars of the film—were just… there. Not that anyone really cared: How can you compete with a giant bird in a tuxedo? You just don’t.
That gig went to the bird. The attention, the memes, and most likely the better party invites went to this bird as opposed to most of the real celebrities. Chillax, that’s the sort of pandemonium we live for at Cannes.
Should you have ever wondered what the craziest moment of this year’s festival was, here is your answer: A giant bird completely outperformed two Hollywood heavyweights, and we have all benefited from it.

Side note: Should Jennifer Lawrence actually be under there, she deserves an Oscar for dedication to the bit. But, unlike her, she’s not that good at hiding.
