Rob Benedict Shares Chaotic Times Square Selfie With Ruthie Connell

A delightfully-chaotic selfie from the Times Square heart-wrought photography of Rob Benedict, the actor mostly known as Chuck Shurley in Supernatural. The actor shared the delightful chaos of the selfie with fellow actor Ruthie Connell, accompanied by a statement that embodied Benedict’s self-deprecatory humor: “Times Square — as mad as ever. As are my selfie skills.” The picture shows them sharing a laugh with the world going mad behind them, truly NYC style, and the very obvious Wicked billboard, which one fan cheekily suggested was worthy of their Supernatural character, Rowena.

Users showed expressions of adoration for the duo, who have left a deep imprint on the hearts of their fans through the many years of working on the CW series: “Mom & Dad looking stylish as always” was a joke about their dynamic. Another fan even made a direct reference to Benedict’s Chuck, saying: “Olha aí o Chuck” (translated: “Look, it’s Chuck”). That was one of many international shout-outs that pay tribute to the worldwide presence of the Supernatural fandom.
Then a poignant moment arose, as one fan thanked Connell for her kindness at a convention: “She was so lovely and I really appreciated that.” A truly indicative way to see how the actors keep connecting with their audience even after the show has gone off air.
Of course, no fan thread will ever leave without some inside jokes. One referred to Benedict’s band Louden Swain and fellow Supernatural alum Richard Speight Jr., saying, “If Rich was in this pic we’d have RRRRRRRRR RRRRR RRRRRR… Rob aaaaand Rich…. and Ruth.” Another spammed with excitement for the theater plans: “ARE YOU GOING TO WATCH SUNSET BLVD.”
Yet the comment section was really owned by an endless chorus claiming that Benedict’s selfie skills are perfectly fine. “You guys are just too cute! Perfect selfie skills I’d say,” one said, while another added, “You are both in frame, so I class that as a win.”
Adulation came for New York back down, with the one user recommending Operation Mincemeat, and another proposing a trip down to Hoboken for sunset skyline views.
Whether intentional or not, the post was a great rendition of the vibe at Times Square: a little on the messy side, glittering bright, and held close by those who adore them. And judging from the comments, the fans just couldn’t have it any other way.

So as Benedict jokes about his selfie game, one thing this response assures: that when you’re this beloved, even a chaotic snapshot becomes a moment to celebrate. If only Richard Speight had made an appearance.
