Arnold Schwarzenegger never misses an opportunity to create some fun with promotion. The Governator recently hit Instagram to encourage his fans to binge the second season of the much-acclaimed Netflix show FUBAR, and then rush down to Venice Beach to click a snap with “the biggest action figure in the world”—a huge gorilla-sized statue of himself, of course, spoiler alert.

The picture exuding Pure Schwarzenegger energy! Here stands the man himself giving a throbbing Arnold thumbs up in front of the towering giant as if he’s just once again been crowned Mr. Olympia. The statue, clad in a blue button-down and plush slacks, somehow looms over the place with a certain superhero vibe as if just stepped out of a comic spare. Of course, right Arnold-style, there is even a double FUBAR promotion board side-by-side because truly, what really could be a reason against it? The whole array just screams come have fun with this, which appears to be precisely what the Terminator star has in mind.
The caption read, “Watch FUBAR season two and then head down to Muscle Beach and get a photo with the biggest action figure in the world and share it with me this Father’s Day weekend. Guy and I loved it. I’ll share my favorites!” A bit straightforward for Arnold; nonetheless, he gets some points for being fun and classic.
The comment section was a mixture of love, laughter, and mistaken locales from some who patently look clueless about the statue’s location. Somebody joked, “Has anyone ever approached you and said—’I know you!!! You’re Turbo Man?’” -a nod to Arnold in Jingle All the Way. Another declared the statue’s “stupendous stature,” and no one would disagree with that.
Then there came the plaintive “Just went there a few weeks ago, I missed it 😢,” which spurred another user to clear the air that no, the statue’s not in Miami, putting the location right at LA (Venice Beach, to be exact). One was proposing that Arnold must do a solo photo shoot with his statue, and honestly, that would just blow up.
The overseas crowd joined in. One Brazilian comedian said in Portuguese, “I’m such a big fan, I’m a comedian from Brazil,” while the other from abroad added, “My dream is to one day meet the best in the world.” So much love gracing the Governator all the way from across the globe.
Then came a less enthusiastic crew. One tagged some pals, declaring, “Let’s go,” as if they were already en route on a spur of the moment road trip to Muscle Beach. Another simply uttered Arnold’s nickname: “The Action Figure Hero,” and that seems just right standing there in all of the statue’s glory.
This is an absolute Schwarzenegger post: plastic hybridization of promotion and playful interaction, with a dash of charm. Could well fans and followers really show up and take pictures at Muscle Beach? Still, to be debated, but Arnold will surely be reposting every shot.
The statue is the perfect homage to a man who has been a bodybuilding icon, a Hollywood heavyweight, and now streaming star all in his own right. If nothing else, at least it somewhat reminds you that Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s legacy is not just cemented in films and politics-Literally cemented (or, more likely, fiberglass). So, if you’re in LA this Father’s Day weekend, you know where to head to! Just remember to tag him.
