Gordon Ramsay Shocked By Disgusting Microwave Hygiene On Secret Service

Here’s the truly dreadful clip of a microwave with a really disgusting hygiene score dropped by Gordon Ramsay on the Secret Service. The famous chef shared a clip in which he put a restaurant microwave to the test in terms of hygiene-so disgusting were the results.

Ramsay says anything between 50 and 90 is acceptable as per cleanliness standards. And this microwave? A whopping score of 5,718. Yes, that is 5,718! Ramsay, in his caption, succinctly puts it, “That’s definitely not something to be proud of.”

The clip showed Ramsay confronting an employee at a restaurant who said he was actually PROUD of that disgustingly-high score. Like…what? Oh, and the expression Ramsay throws is exactly what I think all of us are saying: If they are willing to show this on camera, think about what else is revealed on Secret Service airing on FOX at 9/8c or next day on Hulu.

The comments went on in the same crappy manner: “5,781!? That was a portal to the upside down,” jokingly referencing Stranger Things. One other commenter said, “For comparisons, in Hotel Hell he did the same test on a room that had a very strong indicator that there was human excrement on the carpet, it rang a similar number.” So basically… this microwave was as dirty as a poop-stained hotel carpet. Appetizing!

Some viewers were a little confused in the beginning- they thought the number represented microwave wattage. One admitted, “I thought he was talking about the wattage of the microwave. I was thinking I want to see this microwave,” and another replied, “me too haha.” Nope, just bacteria counts instead.

The hygiene test measures levels of ATP, that is adenine triphosphate, an indicator for organic matter on surfaces. So even though they might not really still be alive, this is a very good indicator for how well (or badly) the equipment has been cleaned. One well-informed commenter went further, “ATP swabs don’t indicate viability. It’s a measure of organic matter rather than life. For example you could spray bleach on the surface, leave it to nuke everything, and get the same number. Gotta use elbow grease to get ATP counts down.”

Others could not believe the employee mustered such a statement saying he was proud of the results. “The audacity to say ‘Yes I’m proud of that,’” wrote one user, followed by another joking, “give chef mike the employee of the year.” Chef Mike being the nickname for microwaves in professional kitchens- an insult!”

In his usual candid voice, Ramsay told the employee, “That’s not your best.” One fan summed it up perfectly: “That’s not your best. That’s sht that I won’t pay for!”

There were mixed reactions to the post, “How on earth can someone be proud of cooking with a microwave? I mean, seriously?” according to a comment. “How dare he use a microwave in the first place; it should be thrown away” came another.

The UK’s eager viewers have been clamoring for the release date for the episode: “Does anyone know where I can watch this in the UK, please?!” To which a cheeky response came: “On the telly, good chap. Pip pip, cheerio.”

This is hardly a first for Ramsay exposing dingy restaurant conditions. The nickname chef has built his reputation criticizing poor food safety and hygiene practices-the fiery ramblings accompanying it in his corporate world. Yet, this microwave has to be the most disgusting find so far.

If a microwave gets below 90, it should be under the 5,000-plus, so what might restaurants be hiding in their kitchens? I guess we’re going to have to put in some overtime on Secret Service to see what other heinous crimes Ramsay will uncover. One thing I can say: after seeing this, half of us will be examining our next restaurant meal with some serious scrutiny.
