Vinny Guadagnino Calls Out Love Island's Kissing Culture As 'Desensitized'

Vinny Guadagnino shed some gems about these modern dating shows, and, well, he was right. The reality TV star just went on a tirade insisting that kissed have less meaning nowadays in a clip from his Something Went Wrong podcast: “It’s almost like waving hi nowadays.” Oh, and a veritable tide of on-the-net agreements would certainly lean toward Vinny’s side.

Here, Vinny goes on about the old-school, traditional dating shows where kissing was a BIG deal; now the contestants just kiss without any weight to it. “On my shows, if you kissed somebody, it was like a mortal sin,” he says. “Now? Who cares? All Andrew is kissing in the pool.” He jokes that kissing must really be more intimate than some forms of sex because “you’re in each other’s mouths.” Quite an interesting viewpoint, but honestly…in a way, he’s not wrong there.

People in the comments literally stood and co-signed Vinny’s entire speech. One said, “I don’t think I’ve kissed that many people in my life let alone the amount they do in 30 mins. It makes me gag.” Another one said it’s “gross,” and yet another one compared modern dating shows to “soap operas.” The most hilarious comeback, though, was from a fan reminding Vinny of his messy past: “VINN YA SLEPT W THE STATEN ISLAND DUMP. IT DOESNT GET WORSE THAN THAT PAL.”

He isn’t entirely hating. He’s got a point: the spectacle of physical intimacy has been almost trivialized by reality TV, and viewers are catching on. A show like Love Island conjures up drama generated by scenes of strangers making out under blindfolds or switching partner mid-season. Seems it is just old hat enough. One comment even said, “It was the kissing complete strangers with blindfolds that got me. Eew.”

In the meanwhile, the assertion brought Mike and Paulie to be somehow implicated in the fracas as well, linking their own amorphous histories: “Vinny, Mike, and Pauly really were catching bodies every night.” So, maybe, just maybe, this could be a return of karma for all of them. Either way, what comes out of this is quite clear: kissing is no longer what it used to be, and reality TV is to be blamed for that.

And let’s be real… Vinny was probably really throwing Love Island under the bus; however, he certainly is by no means the cleanest guy out there. The man once accepted a lap dance from the “Staten Island dump,” so maybe he’s just jealous he didn’t get to play the field in today’s no-rules dating shows. This rant is one of the most relatable things he’s ever said.

So, next time you see two Love Islanders kissing five minutes after meeting each other, think about Vinny Guadagnino-I find it weird. And if a guy who partied with Snooki thinks it’s too much, then definitely it is.
