With a cryptic announcement from Dwayne Johnson, the excitement in the air was reiterated; The Rock and the enormously acclaimed Darren Aronofsky were going to do another movie, and this was far from an average thing, judging from the Instagram post.

Johnson previewed a “dark, impressionistic, complex” narrative revolving around a “seductive, empowering, and dangerously vulnerable” subject in a grim black and white picture where Johnson himself appeared intense and almost unrecognizable as a gaunt figure with a shadowed expression. Two old pals, they have been waiting for the right moment to come upon which they could finally work together, and maybe now is it.

Little else was said, with A24 obviously dhammaed on it; it will undoubtedly not be your average Rock film! With Aronofsky noting in psychological ruin with gritty visions such as Black Swan and The Whale, sitting alongside Johnson’s formidable charisma will undoubtedly give birth to something quite peculiar.

The galore of comments came through, some enthused and some altogether really shaken up. One asked fightsasy casting calls, while another reverberated Johnson’s abrupt exit from WrestleMania earlier in the year demanding answers, only to be drowned out by an outrageously incoherent and disturbingly loud rambling about stolen children and unauthorized medical procedures-there was no way Johnson wanted this return.

DC fans, meanwhile, could not interrupt talking about Black Adam, with one lamenting the lost potential of Johnson’s canceled sequel. Another was adamant it would have actually been a success if it were linked with Justice League. The debate over the superhero stint, for sure, is not over while Johnson tones things down with a darker film.

With the other project being this one, Aronofsky really keeps busy, and Johnson shows a willingness to go into uncharted territory.

One way or the other, whether psychological horror, crime drama, or anything else for that matter, the film will see Johnson totally stepping away from his usual comfort zone. Following Aronofsky’s impulse, one should expect truly terrible, raw, and hauntingly unforgettable.
