Jodie Sweetin Meets Childhood Hero Brian Henson And Can’t Contain Her Excitement

Jodie Sweetin pretty much just walked out of a dream luring many of us into a fantasy. The actress best known for portraying Stephanie Tanner on Full House, roller-skated to see the PuppetUp puppet improv organized by none other than Brian Henson, the son of the widely renowned Jim Henson. Suffice it to say she was not emotionally prepared for this meeting.

Sweetin said in her Instagram post that she had been an ardent fan her whole life: Henson—from Muppets and Sesame Street all the way to Labyrinth and Dark Crystal—was literally her obsession. Meeting the man who created so much magic she had as a child was a bit overwhelming. “I’m pretty sure he’s the only person that I’ve ever been starstruck over,” she revealed. “For real though… I almost cried.”
The photo attached to the post says it all—Sweetin smiles with delight backstage with Henson under string lights and possibly some misplaced puppet. This kind of excitement is infectious and is definitely relatable.
What’s more? Sweetin got to say the one line every fan’s been waiting to say to their idol, “You made MY childhood!” From the comments, she did not seem to be alone in this feeling.
One commenter remembered owning a truckload of Muppet Show VHS tapes while another stated that their wedding was Labyrinth-themed, with a pretty worthy dedication thrown there, and yet another comment read, “It’s hard to explain the immense impact the Muppets & Henson company had on our childhood.” Preach.
Even the official PuppetUp account chimed in with, “Thanks for coming and playing with us!!” which honestly just makes it heartwarming.
But the best part? The unadulterated open joy of Sweetin. An expression of fangirl happiness like this is refreshing in a world where everyone seems jaded or all over that. She was nowhere near playin’ it cool; she was geeking out with glee, and we want to celebrate that.
If you are looking for some serious nostalgia and a reminder as to why puppets are actually really, really cool, PuppetUp is your show. It being a show that got Jodie Sweetin laughing so hard really speaks volumes.
