A Posthumous DMX Project Is Coming This Summer

Hear “Bring Out the Worst” with Joyner Lucas from DMX Features, a collection of unreleased collaborations including Wiz Khalifa and Kevin Gates
Four years after the death of DMX, the late rapper is back with “Bring Out the Worst,” the first single from an upcoming posthumous project.
The track, which arrives a week after the 27th anniversary of DMX’s classic debut album It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, pairs the rapper with Joyner Lucas.
“I’ve been doing this for too long, plus dog is too strong / Let you catch, fight me off the map with a new song,” DMX raps. “You can bring out the best, or bring out the worst / You gonna bring out the worst, we gonna bring out the hearse.” (DNA Music Group/Hitmaker Distro released the track. DMX fans might recognize the verse here from “Where My Dogs At” from his 2012 mixtape The Weigh-In, albeit with new production and Lucas’ contribution.)
This summer will see the release of DMX Features, a collection of never-before-heard collaborations featuring an all-star guest list of rappers. While the details of DMX Features have not yet been revealed, Rolling Stone can exclusively report that Wiz Khalifa and Kevin Gates are among the artists who will appear alongside the late DMX on the LP.
DMX’s final album, Exodus, arrived in May 2021, just a month after the rapper born Earl Simmons died at the age of 50. “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met,” producer Swizz Beatz said in a statement at the time.
“He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”
