Chris Pratt Shares His Essentials And Sparks Hilarious Reactions

Chris Pratt made his way to social media to gorge on emerging possibilities for a seemingly simple but intricate question: “Just the essentials. What can you not live without?” What was at first supposed to be a goofy way to engage with his followers turned into an outright cacophony of sincere responses, fiery religious debates, and pure comedy.

Having been part of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, the actor never declared what in the Essentials category he besides himself actually considered. So there went the fans having to conjure up some guesses. “Family first, always,” was the immediate response to that. Another cheekily said, “LEGO!!” Because, really, who doesn’t love LEGO? The comment section churned out all kinds of weird and wickedly sincere responses; someone even said, “Jesus, food, Vin Diesel, and you.” Okay.

It got hotter with Pratt’s somewhat outspoken Christian faith introduced in the mix. “Not ashamed of Jesus. I love it,” considered one supporter, and then debate spiraled as to whether “American Jesus” would have been pleased with this endorsement. Another said, “Jesus Jesus Jesus and the rest will follow,” so apparently, that’s all they’ve got to say.

And then the jokes began. One commenced with wordplays referencing Pratt’s Marvel alter ego; the speaker quoted from license of Avengers: Infinity War: “What am I supposed to say? Jesus?” Laughter followed. But the crowning glory was blood: “Blood… (my own),” which opened up a flood of jokes about Hollywood vampires. “Bro confirming Hollywood drinks child’s blood, this guy is awesome,” went another comment. Dark humor at its best.

Naturally, you cannot finish a Chris Pratt post without making some nod toward his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, who herself commented, “Can’t wait for all the things you’re going to have to do to make up for the order of this list!” Everyone immediately sided with her and joked that Pratt better add “the girl’s backpacks” to his essentials list, asap.

There were still a few others who kept it clean in the middle. “Almost all things you mentioned, + You,” said one admirer, and another one added, “You’re looking hot these days.” Can’t argue about that.

At the outset, the very old science versus religion debate was brought back, wherein one user commented, “Well you could just say Jesus and leave it at that cause through him all things were made.” Then came the science guys with the, “Science, my guy. Everything was made through science.” With that, the battlefield of beliefs began.

By the day’s end, it was clear to everybody that Pratt had done what he intended to do through this post, i.e., stir people up, make them laugh, and perhaps even make them think about what their essentials would be. Whether it’s faith, family, or a pretty neat LEGO set, every coloring has its own where they draw the line. However, what all can agree on is how strangely particular yet necessary “my own blood” is in Hollywood.

And what can’t you live without? The answers can be as varied as those on Pratt’s post, but the only thing that ever gets faded away is that it ever was anything but dull.
