Dove Cameron Shares Emotional Tribute To Late Cameron Boyce On Anniversary

The deeply personal moment created by Dove Cameron for the late remembrance of Cameron Boyce really grabbed her by the feelings. The black-and-white picture was a fantastic throwback to when the four of them—Dove, Cameron, and these two others-hugged each other as if inseparable. Six years since he left, eleven for love. Those numbers feel very heavy when spoken.

This photo represents a moment stopped in time: four youngsters, arms around each other, grinning sideways with a feeling of having all the answers. Pictures like these tell the story so clearly—that there was really something special between them. The caption is equally simple yet painfully poignant and evokes the contradiction of grief not wiping away love: “Heart heavy but full of love.” Yes, that does it.
The comments section proceeded to develop for a while: people weren’t just bouncing away by dropping heart emojis even! Memories were exchanged, speculations about the Descendant franchise (more of which later), in addition to correcting misconceptions about Cameron’s death. Someone had to actually stop and clarify, “No, he had an epileptic seizure in his sleep” after several others had jumped to the heart-related conclusion. How wild that misinformation remains even after all these years.
Then, there was that one comment that generated a bit of drama: “You and Cam will meet again someday!” Okay, sort of nice sentiment, but then someone else replies: “Is this a threat?” LOL. The guy that initiated the comment had to swiftly jump back in with a gigantic “OBVIOUSLY NOT??” Which really kicked off almost an entire debate as to if, in fact, Dove will meet him in the afterlife or if the world just ends any minute now. Twitter, quite frankly, has no capability of being serious in such matters.
But the real heartache will come from those who find themselves still trying to come to terms with the fact that the Descendants movies went on after Cameron passed away. One user then undertook saying that they are ignoring The Rise of Red and any future sequels because to them it stopped at D3; “Should’ve ended it there,” they wrote, and honestly? Well, fair enough. Another countered that at least with the fourth movie, they paid a dignified tribute to Carlos from Uma, so that counts for something.
And then came the international fans: “No matter how much time passes, Cameron will always have a place in our hearts.” Yeah, and that’s what grief is; it just doesn’t expire.
One doesn’t only lose a co-star or friend in such instances; one loses a person who was clearly such a cornerstone of one’s world. And with how people are still showing up in the comments, still saying his name, still making sure he is remembered—it’s an undying legacy!
