James Gunn Celebrates Vigilante Anniversary With Peacemaker Season 2 Tease

James Gunn dropped the major nostalgia bomb for DC fans, celebrating Vigilante’s anniversary of chaotic charm with a post of mischief and a tease for Peacemaker Season 2. The director posted a glorious image of the character, labeling Vigilante with the funniest line; he is “Eagly’s fourth best pal,” and asked fans to look forward to his return next season. The image was Vigilante at his most absurdly serious; it was an instant gate to a stream of reactions from a crowd that either loves or well, has thoughts.

The comment section went haywire with hype, critiques, and at utter chaos. Having highly praised the pacing and casting of John Cena, one user got the sarcastic jab, labeling said user for not reading the source material or any of the comments trying to defend it, essentially saying that Gunn destroys classics. Ouch. A “Vigilante is DC’s trash era” remark followed by an insulting remark must have been stated by yet another troll. A bold statement indeed, since the scene in the prison where Vigilante debates music with the inmates is regarded by another viewer as “brilliant writing.”
Then drama poured in from those salty corners of the fandom still holding on to the grudges against Gunn’s reboot of DC. The drama included demanding the return of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman because otherwise, out of spite, she will tank the Gunn’s Superman movie. Others begged for comic-accurate casting; Wonder Woman must have black hair, white skin, and blue eyes. Then randomly, from somewhere in the deep, someone says that Sergeant Rock has gotta be in Batman: Brave and Bold-they might actually have some priorities, and those are all over the place.
Then came the not-so-exciting ones: “When’s the UK getting Creature Commandos?” and “Are they still doing the Black Canary movie?” Well, Gunn never answered, anyway. Still, the huge list of demands in the comment section just goes to show how much his fans desire the DCU.
One of the most unexpected responses came from an AI bot (it wasn’t a joke), which rambled off a strangely detailed account of Peacemaker’s Rotten Tomatoes score and fan reception, before finishing with, “It drops August 21, 2025, on Max-should be a wild ride!” So the bots are excited as well.

Gunn’s post did more than celebrate Vigilante; it acted as a microcosm for DC fandom’s hopes and gripes amidst the chaos. Whether you love the irreverent takeover or miss the old DCEU is irrelevant. One thing is for sure-which means existence; Peacemaker Season 2 would be a circus, and the Internet would have opinions.
