Jennifer Lopez’s New Movie Office Romance Sparks Mixed Reactions As Edward James Olmos Returns As Her Father

Again, Jennifer Lopez makes headlines with her forthcoming Netflix movie “Office Romance”, where she reunites with Edward James Olmos, who, nearly three decades ago, played her onscreen father in “Selena”. The casting notice has stirred a considerable tempest of response, including excitement and outright scepticism.

Netflix confirmed Olmos has been invited back to play Lopez’s father once more in Office Romance, with Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein as her love interest. The huge streaming giant then announced on social media: “Edward James Olmos will play Jennifer Lopez’s father (again!) in Office Romance-her upcoming new movie with Brett Goldstein.”

Some fans are all for this reunion while others have been slamming the production.

“Yeah, Netflix. You lost me at Lopez,” bluntly replied one user. Another added, “Nobody looks happy with Jlo,” implying a trend of tension behind the scenes.

Not everyone is quick to dismiss the project, however. “Mr. Olmos is a true icon. Another great movie coming our way,” said one supporter. Another doubtful person put forth, “Brett Goldstein? Is her love interest another white man? Ay yi yi.”

Things got a bit ridiculous, with someone using what seemed like Lopez’s account replying to the critic with, “Hello Linda! Get in touch with me if you are able to.” (Spoiler: J.Lo definitely isn’t that.)

Lopez’s projects have always divided her audiences, and the most familiar would be her breakout role as Selena Quintanilla. Nostalgic for some teary-eyed fan tweeting, “Anything for Selena.” Some unnamed detractors rebutted it with “She is obviously looking for something…maybe a father-figure.”

Otherwise, Olmos returning to take over that of the father has at least one fan who reminisces: “Martin/Marty Castillo,” referring to his immortal role in Miami Vice.

Is Office Romance going to become another success in the collection of Lopez, or will it cause even more waves in the arguable waters around her viability in Hollywood? We will see; either way, there is no doubt that the chatter is definitely on.
