Kate Hudson And Kathryn Hahn Recall Hilarious Audition Story For ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’

Kate Hudson shared the hilarious curtain-closer about Kathryn Hahn’s audition for their 2003 rom-com cult classic, ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.’ And it was exactly as much mayhem as one could imagine. In a new interview snippet, Hudson recounted the weird moments of Hahn walking into the audition humiliatingly sweaty, sniffing her arms-what an odd thing to do! The chemistry clicked in an instant, and the rest is cinematic history.

Then the clip cuts to them both hysterically laughing while recalling the moment. ‘You came in all flustered; you were trying to find a parking spot,’ Hudson grinned. ‘You were smelling your arms like, “Is it me or is it you?” And I was like, “No, it’s definitely you.”‘ Hahn corroborated by saying that she did just check herself right before walking in. The actress then joked that she was carrying this strange bag-the kind that looks like one is moving in-and this just added to the charm. ‘I think my dad’s ashes were in there,’ Hahn quipped.
Hudson knew right away that she was the one. ‘I was like, I love this one so much,’ she recalled. Chaos continued into the scenes-phone rings with Hahn in mid-line, and she answers it half on camera, ‘I’m in the middle of an audition!’ Hudson and Casting Director Linda Obist just cracked up-and they knew right then and there that Hahn was definitely going to be best friend number one to Hudson from now till forever.
Commenters were living for that throwback. ‘I’m so happy Kathryn Hahn is getting her flowers-she’s one of the funniest actors of all time with an iconic track record,’ one said, while another said, ‘One of the best movies ever.’ A third chimed in admiringly, ‘I daydream of that yellow dress at least twice a year.’ The nostalgia was real; some called it their ‘all-time favorite movie.’
It was one clip too many for a few, so they finally watched the film. ‘Wait cuz I’ve never seen the film and I love their chemistry here so ok fine I’ll watch it,’ one viewer admits, with others strongly advocating for a sequel. ‘Please do another film, ladies,’ one fan pleaded.
All conversations naturally I think veered into the strong resemblance between Goldie Hawn and her daughter Kate Hudson. Many commentators could attest to how much Hudson’s mannerisms seemed to resemble her mother, especially when it came to the laughter. “Kate has always looked like Goldie but there are snippets in this interview where she literally morphs into her! It’s mesmerizing!” wrote one, triggering an avalanche of online support for such statements. “Same mannerisms & everything!” came another response.
And that is basically the beginning of Kathryn Hahn’s ever presence: “Did I just fall platonically in love with Kathryn Hahn? Yassss, yes I DID.”

The clip reminds us all why ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ sits in every rom-com library. The perfect balance of Hudson cool and Hahn nuts. And judging by the reunion, the fans are most definitely down for a round two, sweat perhaps excluded.
