Katy Perry's Space Trip Sparks Wild Reactions Online

Katy Perry and a plethora of super high-ranking women including Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, and Kerianne Flynn took the picture just last Monday before the anticipated journey to space. Pop Base shared the otherwise incensed photo digitally around the internet”but not quite in the fashion you’d expect either. Some would be ecstatic, while some inscrutable…. the replies ended up being a whole mashup of joy, fear, and plain chaotic confusion.

In the first place, it was one divided vibe. Some find it really impressive like AlmightySo who tweeted ‘didn’t know I need this until now.’ But there are those who are already writing disaster scripts in their heads, ‘moments before disaster I fear,’ quipped one, while another got straight to the point saying, ‘this ain’t gonna end well- Katy why are you doing this?’ Ouch.

Then there were the really crazy ones. Apparently, someone made a comment about wishing the ship would explode (so mellow there, dude), while another matched the cast to The Thundermans: honestly? Pretty much spot-on. The submarine jokes also flowed with several references to the debacle last year with a billionaire and his submersible. “This better not end up like the submarine,” one user tweeted nervously.

Gayle King’s face in a picture has also become the topic of talking. ‘Gayle looks terrified,’ once such pointed out, which is pretty much true. I’d probably look like that, if not worse, if I were about to shoot off into the stars.

On the contrary, Amanda Nguyen was serving killer poses. ‘That pose of Amanda’s is nastyyyyy, she knows she looks good,’ someone tweeted, and this wasn’t wrong. Other people, however, were distracted by different things. ‘What’s wrong with your face??’ asked one other user in the replies, setting off a bit of a mini-brouhaha about botox. Classic Twitter.

Then there come the conspiracy theorists. Asking,’ Is that why Bezos postponed?’ would be one who raises the possibility of drama going on behind the curtains. ‘Just a cover for the new ‘Star Trek’ reboot,’ joked another.

Not all of them have gone on sabbatical from humanity, however, as these few who deployed some emotionally charged letters in their tweets into the maelstrom evidenced: ‘I am so nervous and scared to Katy and them but wish them a safe journey.

At the end of the day, whether you’re believing that this is one of life’s great journeys or a disaster waiting to happen, people are not going to stop talking about it for sure. And honestly? That is the actual mission accomplished.

Buckle up because if the replies are any indication, this space trip is going to be one wild ride, literally and online.
