Mark Wahlberg Teases New Mob Movie With Cryptic Instagram Post

The talk of the town these days is a pretty enigmatic snippet shared by Mark Wahlberg on his Instagram page. Wahlberg and Greg Jr. offered some footage of their new venture, captioning it: “Me and jr. doing some real shhhh 🎥🎬 @municipal 🏹📈💯.” Wahlberg here is in full mobster mode: hair slicked back, toothpick hanging in one corner of the mouth, and a sting glare that says, “Don’t mess with me.”

The fervent fans have invaded the comment section trying to figure out what this new gig is about. One user hit the nail on the head, stating Wahlberg is filming “By Any Means,” wherein he plays the infamous mob hitman Greg Scarpa. Scarpa is a real-life enforcer for the Colombo crime family, making this role tailor-fitted for Wahlberg’s gritty style of acting.

The scary transformation was making people do double takes. “OMG I almost didn’t recognize Mark 😂,” wrote one, while another joked, “Which one is Wahlberg? 😂” The look is miles away from Wahlberg’s usual clean-cut persona, once again grabbing headlines for the actor’s sheer commitment towards going all in for his characters.

One commenter explained that Wahlberg’s toothpick mannerism immediately reminded them of FBI surveillance footage of Scarpa, while another couldn’t help but poke a little fun: “With that nose, I nose this movie is going to be good” 😂, and sparked an entire thread on scent puns: “Only time will smell, I mean tell!”

Not all fans were amused by the pun-filled comments. Some were saying things that showed just how deeply they connected with the project. An aspiring actress alluded to the fact that she had auditioned to play Wahlberg’s daughter by writing, “I wish I would’ve gotten the part! Hopefully there’s a next time!” Nostalgic mentions followed as several people brought up Wahlberg’s Dirk Diggler from “Boogie Nights”: “Dirk Diggler is back 🎬😜.”

Work on the actual film release is, of course, hush-hush still, though the buzz is definitely getting there. “Scarpa movie is going to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” assessed one fan, with another simply chiming in with “Legendary 🏆 🏆 🏆.”

Taken together, with all the cryptic captioning, real gangster looks from the new movie, and Wahlberg’s megawatt charm in full force, expectations couldn’t possibly be higher. Judging by the energy in the comment section, ‘By Any Means’ could very well be a Wahlberg classic in the making.

And when it comes to keeping things real, damn that clip; we are sitting here just waiting for the first trailer to drop. Toothpick deserves an Oscar all by itself.
