Matthew McConaughey Launches ‘Poems & Prayers’ Tour With Vintage Flair

Once again, Matthew McConaughey’s magical blend of wisdom and charm shall grace the stage with the revival of the ‘Poems & Prayers Book Tour’ recently announced. In advance of the intimate settings around America, the actor teased fans with a vintage poster he uploaded on Instagram. The toned-down sepia one shows McConaughey looking every bit the Southern-style philosopher, composed enough to enumerate the dates of the tour at Brooklyn, Nashville, Tulsa, Los Angeles, and Austin. Choosing to go minimalist, the caption read a very weighty, “More than hope, we need belief,” then directed viewers to poemsprayers.com to purchase their tickets along with book bundles.

The announcement caused the excitement to scatter, and one user responded with, “Giddy up! Always bringing the good,” while another called it the “Woodstock of Words” in jest. But not everyone seemed to be cheering for Brooklyn, Nashville, Tulsa, Los Angeles, and Austin as desirable cities. “What about Mississippi??? This is AMAZING,” cried an enthusiastic soul, whereas another grumbled off with, “No Las Vegas? Why not?” Then the international fans started chiming in: “Please come to England, we need you more than the US right now,” wrote one among many hell-bent for UK shows.
Some locals instantly made their offers. “Holler if you need some music for your Austin date. #LocalLegends,” offered the musician, which is just a testament to McConaughey’s prowess beyond being a reader. A magazine took a step and said, “We’d love to feature you in Clearly Texas Magazine.”
Others were ready to jump-start the pre-sale announcements. “Just got seats in Nashville. Whoop whoop!” cheered a fan; another wanted to inquire whether it will be streamed online for people unable to attend in person. One very zealous follower was on about McConaughey being the top celebrity on his list and signing as a ‘win-win.’
But not all comments stayed on topic. One commenter went off on a weird rant about government conspiracies and futures, claiming McConaughey was a ‘true American’ who ‘made a hell of a stand against racism.’ It was… a lot.
Given that this tour will be centered on all things nostalgic and McConaughey asking for “belief over hope,” one would assume these are going to be anything but typical book signings. Deep talks? Maybe some kind of impromptu jam sessions? Nope. Straight-up McConaughey charm, laid bare. For the fortunate ones who are gracing any stops on the list, comment wars have essentially done their work, pressuring for a wider tour.

No official news yet about whether McConaughey would keep some more dates, but judging by the outpour of reaction, such demand won’t die out anytime soon. Perhaps finally, Mississippi and Vegas shall be graced. Or maybe, as one fan stated, “Come on’ out to Arizona!” The desert could use a little poetic revival, after all.
