Bringing laughs to Houston, Tarver, Micah, opens the AKTORS TO STAGE Comedy Tour for its first show on August 1. The actor-producer shared the announcement on Instagram to bring some hype with fellow comedian Calvin, whom he refers to as “Your Favorite Cousin.” The tour is a comedic experiment of sorts, with Tarver bringing in the on-screen appeal to stand-up comedy energy.

In another behind-the-scenes clip, Tarver can be heard talking about entering this new space. “It’s a whole new experience, a new journey for me,” says Tarver, even while looking pretty well at home there. He compares the vibe to the Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam, where dope comedians get exposure. “I think it’s something the world needs,” Tarver says, before rallying the crowd with his trademark shout: “Actors to the stage!”
The announcement received much excitement in the comments, with one jokingly lamenting alternative expectations: “This whole time I’ve been waiting to see Lance on the stage 😍 I was thinking more Magic Mike not Micah!” Another one replied with pride, “Yessir super proud of you nupe!” pointing at Tarver’s Kappa Alpha Psi roots.
Others may yet have to discover what is Tarver’s comedic style. “I might have to check this out in Houston,” said one commenter as if to say new audiences might be drawn in by it. Then again, the fan jokingly asked if Tarver himself would be on the Houston lineup, but neither the tour nor Tarver has offered any indication as of yet.
There is something genuine about the hype for the tour; Tarver insists in an attempt for legacy: “You’re in the middle of creating your legacy,” an off-camera commenter tells him as he responds to their immediacy. Houston could very well be ready for that.
From TV or this, however, one thing is very clear: Micah Tarver is no longer just an actor. With every other step, he’s constructing the larger for laughter. And judging by the buzz, the AKTORS TO STAGE Comedy Tour would be the next big thing in stand-up.
