Nick Young Challenges Patrick Beverley To A Million Dollar One-On-One Game

With comical antics, Young has put down dunks. The other half of the duo more familiarly known as Swaggy P had demanded a high-stakes one-on-one opportunity from Patrick Beverley with bizarre incentives. Young droplets a challenge in a video to Beverley, saying they would play for one million dollars…and repairs and oil changes for life. Yes, that is what you heard.

The video is almost five minutes long and is a riot, as Young never stops roasting Beverley while casually sipping a cup of Starbucks coffee in Houston. Young kept calling Beverley “the mechanic” and teased him about wearing an AutoZone shirt to the game. At one point he jokingly says, “You already a mechanic, what you gonna do? You wanna play 101?” The whole tirade felt like a drunk late-night text that somehow ended up on film and uploaded for another day.

Young’s challenge was still conditional: Young wanted to have an expensive million-dollar ticket to play and could get those free oil changes whenever he wanted. He even half-joked about whether his electric car would even need it, “Hope you know how to fix electric…you got to upgrade.” Obviously, the former Lakers guard must have given some thought to this ridiculous idea.

The Young viral challenge caused an instant worldwide explosion of reactions. One person almost laughed until she couldn’t say anything else when Young called Beverley “Kat Stacks,” which is the name of a notorious groupie in hip-hop history. Another said, “Pat out here like the work at the game tryna sit next to your wife,” referring to Young’s jokes about Beverley trying to hang out close to his family. The mechanic jokes were successful; many laughed at the AutoZone shirt jokes.

There were, however, others who still believed Young’s tough-talk was all bark and no bite. Many commenters warned how Beverley would “bust his ass” in an actual game. One said, “Pat gone SMOKE yall yall drink too much,” insinuating that Young was probably all talk. Another one concurred that the million-dollar asking price is too high and mostly an excuse to not play, “he out pricing himself so he know he ain’t gotta play.”

The most laugh-worthy moment probably happens when Young goes sharply serious and says, “Don’t you ever say anything to Ghibli…you don’t put no prayers out to Ghibli.” Nobody knows what or who Ghibli is referring to, but the ridiculous seriousness was hilarious. One commenter simply responded, “Not to my Gilbert” with crying-laughing emojis, clearly appreciating the absurdity.

This is not the first time Young has been in basketball beef. The former basketballer is charismatic and has never been shy about speaking his mind and calling people out. But to challenge an In-Play NBA player to a million-dollar game on the back of roasting his alleged mechanical skills takes it further than even Swaggy P would go.

It’s a wait and see whether Beverley ever responds. As a Timberwolves’ guard and a competitor by nature, he may seriously attempt redeeming the offer. However, he may find it not worth his while interacting with someone who compared him to a side chick while sipping Starbucks. Either way, this amusing basketball drama puts the internet as the winner.

Young ended the rant by stating he was ready to play “anywhere, any time.” He even suggested taking Beverley and his wife to two-on-one should that be necessary. That’s quite the confidence, unless we really want to see how badly Beverley’s skill level would curb stomp Young in basketball. One thing is a given, if this shootout ever comes to fruition, it is going to be must-see TV. Till then, we are stuck sitting on Young’s comedic moments as he casually roasts an NBA player over coffee as if it’s a regular day at the office.
