Richard Mofe-Damijo Sparks Outrage With Shocking Slap Scene In New Stage Play

Richard Mofe-Damijo, aka RMD, the edition finale teaser for the show has finally been released, with everyone talking about this one particular scene. The play, set with themes of family, sacrifice, and agonizing love, includes a pivotal moment when the daughter slaps her father, RMD himself. Yeah, the inter-web was just not about it.

The disagreement lies at the core of the teaser, which was posted on RMD’s Instagram; from the father who had sacrificed every possibility, to the daughter who feels ignored and unappreciated; that is until she lands that slap. The clip hit social media like a bomb, dividing viewers between disbelief, anger, and let’s be honest, respecting it for the sheer boldness.

One user, @pastormildred, epitomized the sentiments expressed by the collective creatures “Ahhhhhhh!!!!! This girl get mind o! Even for acting you slap RMD!!!!! 😮😮😮😮 😂😂” And honestly? Same. @pastormildred’s comment received equally loud responses as @___ada_ozuruigbo said, “I did the same ooo, fear catch me🤣”, hence, it would seem that witnessing somebody slap a Nollywood legend kind of brings out a primal panic response.

But it wasn’t all just laughter. Some very seriously took that scene. @iam_dobis__ wrote, “The audacity to slap your father? This is so UnAfrican. I guess it was not an Actual Slap though. Otherwise who will have the guts to slap the Legend @mofedamijo.” With @richieobiechie, stating fearfully, “Whether in reality or acting… Omo o wrong o! The elders must summon her.”

Then it endorsed that in the meantime, there was simply a field full of mouths gaping incapable to put their thoughts out regarding what they had just been subjected to. @lucy.christabel admitted, “Abeg make una tell me to close mouth cos I didn’t see that coming 😮😮” while @its_doofan confessed with some chuckles, “Ha! I shouted here oo! Ha! Slap your father? …. Brilliant performance.”

But there were those who wanted to ask logical questions. Royale cracked, “🔥🔥You dey slap sugar dad abi dad as in father? You go dey slap veteran?😂. Na Gen z sa” Because, really, Gen Z would absolutely do this and tweet about it afterwards.

But beyond shock value, this is a play that packs a serious punch. @cawilliams2035 stated, “This play right here is going to be EPIC, BRILLIANT… Well WRITTEN, TENSE, true love for a child, wanting the best for ur child & grandchildren.” So, the slap might be the one everybody will talk about, but the real story is most probably going to hit just as hard.

‘Dear Father’ will come to London from June 12-14, and if the teaser is anything to go by, tickets are going to be off sale in no time! Whether you want to come for the drama, the rocking performance, or just want to find out if RMD really took that slap like a pro, this is one stage play you do not want to miss!

And those still recovering from the shock? You are not alone. “I could not close my mouth for some seconds after that slap,” said @xristiuseh. Likewise, fam. Likewise.
