Stephen Baldwin Shares Motivational Monday Wisdom With A Side Of Chaos

A total break in normalcy in the comments, providing Monarch-of-Monday-style motivation from Stephen Baldwin. The actor posted a clip that spoke clearly about ignoring negative thoughts and self-improvement, quoting Jerry Seinfeld, who spoke about “getting better at what you’re doing” while everything else would be “a complete waste of time.” Of course, the far greater entertainment was provided by the contrasting shades of mad comments that ran the gamut from Bible verses to conspiracy theories, to random dating requests.

The crazy started with Baldwin’s intent stare imparting that one should be blocking out distractions. Mentioning One Bad Movie, his long hair was one of the points of theological debate in the comments section: one user demanded that he “get a haircut hippy,” all to the next comment expounding at length on Biblical hair length, Nazarite law, and whether or not the peace sign emoji is a broken cross. It was obvious where that discussion was going to go.
For others, that was just another opportunity to vent. A 56-year-old woman outright went on to hire Baldwin’s services in tracking down a boyfriend for her. Then, someone stated that the video is in perfect sync to Final Lullaby by The Weeknd, starting exactly at 28 seconds (it quite doesn’t). Priorities.
Interspersed through all these religious remarks were scriptural quotes and affirmations of their faith from varying users. One long-winded declaration pretty much copy-pasted the entire John 15:18-25 passage about persecution. Because nothing says “Monday motivation” quite like being reminded that the world hates you.
Mixed in with the chaos came a few fans showing genuine appreciation for Baldwin’s work. Another commented, “I loved you in Bio Dome,” which is just the 90s nostalgia for life. Another one praised his “leading many to Jesus,” which is quite the endorsement from the man who starred in The Usual Suspects.
At some ghoulish/SNL level, someone inquired about whether Baldwin was “allowed in women’s bathrooms,” for no rhyme or reason. Oh, and let’s not forget the one who compared him to “Harry Potter growing up to be a lesbian.” That one has no reply, probably because no one really knows what to say to that.
Then the original point that Baldwin was getting at became somewhat lost through this madness as do the emphases on distraction and self-improvement. There was indeed a user who responded thoughtfully about neuroplasticity and continuous learning, so it wasn’t a complete loss.
This has to top all other lists as to what shows celebrity social media pages to be a confluence of every harewired thought, theory, or observation ever thought up. Baldwin wanted to talk about personal growth. His followers chose instead to go into religious hair standards, seeking love, and suspiciously specific song synchronicities.
In the end, though, the comment section, like the rest of the world, proved his original theory: Most of what people say online really is “a complete waste of time.” But it sure is a delight to watch it all unfold. The post has now garnered thousands of likes and hundreds of comments, so whether people are engaging with the message or just the madness, engagement is definitely happening.
