‘Talk to Me’ Team Makes Sally Hawkins Scary

The film will come out May 30
You only need to know three things about the Bring Her Back trailer: Somebody says, “There’s something wrong with Laura.” Somebody else says, “We can bring her back.” And Sally Hawkins’ character (Laura!) seems creepy as hell in the horror movie, masterminded by directors Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk to Me), due out May 30.
The clip opens with two foster siblings (Billy Barratt and Sora Wong) peering over an open casket as an adult tells them they’ll be going to live with “a new foster mum called Laura … You’re going to love her.” Five seconds later, Laura seems normal enough, except for how she’s grieving her late daughter, Cathy, and has preserved her bedroom the way it was. Before long, they’re watching home videos of Cathy, there are flashes of a living corpse, and Laura is saying she never coped with the loss of her daughter. This is nothing to say of their creepy housemate, played by Jonah Wren Phillips. It all escalates, as the movie title suggests, to a frightening conclusion.
Rolling Stone dubbed the film one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, describing it as “another horror flick dialed up to 11.” “Things get extremely scary,” it says, “and more than a little gory.”
Danny Philippou co-wrote the movie with Bill Hinzman. The duo previously collaborated on the script for Talk to Me and that film’s upcoming sequel. The Philippous and Hinzman developed Bring Her Back at the same time as Talk to Me, according to IndieWire.
