J.K. Rowling Drops New Word ‘Whimformation’ And The Internet Loses It

J.K. Rowling, the woman who gave us Harry Potter and a million debates, just invented a new word everyone is talking about-or yelling about, depending on which camp you’re in. The word is whimformation, and yes, it is every bit as spicy as it sounds.

Rowling described it as “provable nonsense voiced out of a desire to convince others, and occasionally the self, that what you wish was true is actually true.” She didn’t provide context, but let’s be honest: She didn’t have to; the responses did that for her.
The tweet virtually exploded, with some praising her linguistic creativity saying things like “Love the new noun!”-@AricKeyes-while others…well, took the cue to monologue on. You know…that long-standing discussion about trans athletes, biology, and really, if reality caters to your sort of wishful thinking.
@FREEAGLE screamed, “Transgenderism isn’t real. Gender Dysphoria is a mental disorder.” Too harsh? Somewhat. But definitely a point made and continued in replies. It was followed by “@TitanLawNY: Name one trans man, (read: woman) who replaced a man in a male sport. I will wait.” Spoiler alert: no one did actually name one.
It did kick off, though, when @JenniferHa61491 brought Fallon Fox-the transitioning MMA fighter who went on to fight women. “Letting men fight women is an accident waiting to happen,” she said; @rejserin countered with a few statistics. But let’s be fair-no one was interested in having a structured discussion.
Some people, however, were just vibin’ with that word. @MrRobson_ asserted it to be “brilliant” and that he would be stealing it. Respectively, @GalaxyDuster simped hard with “God I love you.” And @DeplorableLink? They responded with their own: “T(y)ranny (n): a human science experiment seeking to control the world with false human identities.” Goodness.
The craziest response of the prize @Reece2811972502, were just a whole mess of salad about quantum-parasites and-alchemical-transformation. What this translates to is, no one knows either way, but fun reading for sure.
At the end of the day, Rowling’s tweet did what it had always set out to. And that was, to split up the Internet into factions. Love her or hate her, she does get people talking. Whether whimformation runs a course or is dead and buried in Twitter’s bottom ashes, one thing is for sure: People aren’t changing their minds today.
