Joey Celebrates May In Indianapolis With Epic Tribute

Almost immediately after Joey tweeted it, it went viral- which is pretty much the energy we all desperately needed! It read, “It’s May in Indianapolis,” and the video was nothing short of phenomenal, with Joey’s moving tribute to the Indianapolis 500; and of course, the internet just exploded.

Responding to the tweet, well, hype, nostalgia, and plain chaos sort of sums it up in those comments. One reply by Mike Wadsworth hit the nail on the head this time though: “Thank you. I needed that.” Said it nicely, Mike. Cocaine_Crow™ followed: “God bless the Indianapolis 500,” with salute and checkered flag emojis. The vibes? Impeccable.

Now let’s mention Josh Cade, who took things up a notch completely. The dude said he did a whole Bluetooth speaker ceremony to hang the flag on time with a 1991 concert. “The neighbors do NOT want to hear me belting this out,” he said. For that, we salute you, Josh. To which Patrick Murphy suggested he be sent to the 500 to sing it! Well, Joey, if you’re seeing this, then it’s your official petition.

Nostalgia is an awesome weapon! OBVIOUS SHIRTS® would have the gall to call Joey “the songbird of our generation”; honestly? Fair. Ryan Jokerst had an entire prophetic monologue: “Indy 500 is a must experience if uve never been. Pure Americana.” Could not have put it better.

Not everyone was in on it, though. Steve Huffer came in with an indirect shot: “Not bad but never gonna top Gomer.” Ouch. But Jason Van Arkel defended the tribute: “But still a good one.” Oh, the deliciousness! Just think of the amount of drama over just a tweet but about May in Indianapolis!

And yet another comical twist came along: trade logic: “I’ve followed many, but @EricStoneGOLD It’s unreal watching Reading into his trade logic,” JamieFord said. Come on, Jamie, this is about singing Joey. Focus!

Sergio Mena affirmed on that tweet, “Glad I wasn’t the only one who woke up singing it today,” while Mike Fetscher shared, “I had the same flag up down in Evansville.” Even WBDG Radio jumped in and quipped how allergy season has everyone in their feelings saying “‘Not a dry eye in the house…of course…it is allergy season.’ Classic.”

And the podcast controversy, Kyle quipped sharply, “Go back to the podcast, the new guy sucks.” Kyle, we don’t know what podcast you refer to, but we back you on that.

Well, all that said, Joey’s tweet proves how something as trivial as a song can bring people together. True-born Indy 500 fans or those who appreciate an excellent meme, this was it. So here’s to May in Indianapolis: loud, proud, and chaotically unapologetic just like a salute from Joey!
