Olga Kurylenko Reveals Her Struggle With Phobia During Early Modeling Days

Olga Kurylenko just gave out some illicit gossip about her early days in Paris, and it’s far heavier than anyone anticipated. The actress and former model talked about a paralyzing fear that kept her too frightened to step out the door. That’s right-the same one who enchanted the world as the suitable Bond girl and acted the part of an action heroine-was once paralyzed with fear of stepping out the door in the extreme.

Since she had the courage to be utterly transparent, she talked about developing, as she called it, “a kind of phobia” when she arrived in Paris as a young model. The pressure, the looks, the catcalls-well, they were hard to bear. “I was ashamed of being sexy, ashamed of my own beauty,” she said. “I didn’t leave my house for one or two years unless it was for work.” Using public transportation was off-limits, avoiding certain streets became a daily activity; in essence, she had kind of made a prison for herself.”

Her revelation fits smoothly with her latest film, Other, in which she plays a woman trapped in her childhood home and forced to face the consequences of her traumatized past. Art imitating life would not be so far-fetched.

Her candidness really affected her fans-one Ukrainian fan wrote in their native tongue, and it goes like this in English: “Olga, you’re the best representative of Mariupol, Donbas, and Ukraine. You surprised us speaking French—I’m proud of you!” Others soon chimed in, sharing their phobia tales for solidarity purposes. Too funny: “My phobia wasn’t death-it was being put under for surgery. Then I had three ops in eight weeks and realised it’s basically a spa day with drugs.”

But real consolation was given by a Parisian: “I felt the same things in Paris too. But we understand now.” Short, sweet, and kind of a heartbreaker.
