It was a moment of terror. Not for turbulence, however. The singer and TV personality took social media to make her fans gag a little when she announced her gross and ridiculous discovery: there was a stir stick in her cocktail that looked like it had been chewed on, and this created a dark moment for her to question the very decision of life that brought her there.

“Hurry @therealdrjackie send me some valtrex!! I’m finna have a bum bump 😫😫😫🚮😰# i didn’t see it till the end of the drink 🙃💀,” she wrote in the caption, and the world exploded.

In the video, one can see her holding the sick stirrer and looking somewhat disgusted: “This was in my cocktail cup. Don’t let her back some of her emotions shoot on that bitch. Should I still drink it?” Also, “The way me and my germs dissed her. I want to throw up.” The clip cuts before she’s made a decision, but by judging from the caption, she never could have finished that drink.

The internet certainly had thoughts. Some were downright horrified. Others found humor in the situation, and yet others tried to find logic behind it all. One joked, “They come out the pack like that 😂 it’s a ‘wood’ stir stick,” while another added, “Not a bum bump! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.” One practically minded person advised, “Trash it and please put on a mask 😷 ✈️,” germ exposure being the last thing anyone needs on a plane.

“Theories began taking flight. ‘Maybe the straw belonged to BBC? speculated one,” while another registered the outrage, “What airline is that?”-because when there is drama, the first thing on people’s minds is which airline to boycott. And from an insider’s perspective: “It’s a mixer/stir stick… and as a flight attendant, this is normal when taking them out of the packaging. Relax.”

Though just about everyone else was feeling disgusted. “If you’re germs are really set up that way, you shouldn’t even be on that plane,” one user said. “Before your stick became that way, people been talking over it, touching it, the split ends is the least of your worries.” Well said. Intercontinental air travel is nothing but a flying Petri dish.

Relaxing ones were: “Likka kills the germs. Drink up!”and another sarcastically chimed in: “Sure drink it..Bottoms up🍷🍾.” Tamar, however, seemed firmly in the camp of “most definitely not.”

The post actually sparked a little cleaning conversation. “Airplanes, airport bathrooms, bus terminals and bathrooms and hospitals are the germiest places on earth”, declared one user, which… yeah, no arguments there.

Tamar’s post was hilariously horrifying, perfectly capturing an equally weird and too-real moment at 30,000 feet. Whether the stir stick was really chewed on or just badly manufactured will likely never be resolved, but they can all agree that this was an in-flight experience that Tamar will never forget. The Internet probably brushed off.

That also brings up a bigger question: Why do airline drink stirrers look that way—like they’ve seen more war than the soldiers? Maybe they should get a redesign. Or at least a PSA. Anyhow, next time you are served a cocktail on a plane, maybe give that stir stick a look before you take the first sip. Just saying.

Hopefully, Tamar made it to her destination without any more traumatic beverage stories to tell. If not, well..it’s a great story to pass on. Maybe even a case for one. Who knows.
